For investors who wish to have a passive investment "core" portfolio that will accomplish two goals:

1. Provide a return highly correlated to a large capitalization U.S. Equity index like the S&P 500 or the Russell 1000. Portfolios typically own individual equities that represent a subset of that index and are structured to closely provide that correlated result.
2. Actively harvest capital losses from individual portfolio positions and replacing those sold positions with new holdings from the underlying index.

A client using this approach would be able to utilize the losses realized to perhaps offset gains recognized from other investments. Any client electing to utilize this portfolio should review all capital gain and income tax implications with their Certified Public Accountant or other tax counsel.
